ZOOMLION FOUNDATION ESTABLISHES AWARD SCHEME FOR BEST STUDENT IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
The maiden prize of the Zoomlion Foundation’s Academic Awards Scheme for the best student in environmental science was given out at the University of Ghana during the Academic Awards ceremony to recognize students who excel in the study field of environmental science. The award referred to as the “ Zoomlion Foundation Prize for Best Student in Environmental Science”, was given out on 26th February 2016, at the 2014/2015 Academic Awards of the University of Ghana (UG), at the Great Hall of the university. Miss Emma Owusua Gyan, a graduate student from the Institute for Environment & Sanitation Studies (from the College of Basic and Applied Sciences) won the award. The award package was a certificate and a cash prize of cedi the equivalent of Four Hundred United States Dollars (US$400.00).
Mr. E. A. Amartey, the Director of Academic Affairs at University of Ghana, expressed gratitude to the Zoomlion Foundation for sponsoring the award, noting that it was the first of its kind for the Institute for Environment & Sanitation Studies (IESS).
The Executive Chairman of Zoomlion and Jospong Groups of Companies, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong who initiated this award in collaboration with University of Ghana said “ the award seeks to promote a good balance of classroom learning and professional development for students pursuing courses in Environmental Science in the University of Ghana”. The Foundation has also offered those who win the prize, an internship at Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
